An investment that will serve you and your family for years, leather furniture is comfortable, durable, and stylish. Manufacturers use three types of leather for furniture: aniline, semi-aniline, and pigmented leathers. The most expensive and softest of the three, aniline leather features a rich color that is a combination of the dyeing process and its lack of protective coating. Like aniline, semi-aniline leather is immersed in a drum full of dye, but this type of leather receives a protective coating that prevents stains and fading. Finally, the least expensive type of leather, pigmented leather, is simply dyed on the surface and finished with a durable coating. While it does not have the deeper hues of aniline or semi-aniline leather, pigmented leather generally resists scratches, stains, and fading to a greater extent. Overall, these leathers are significantly more durable than fabric and they age remarkably well.
